The Wheels on the (Admin)bus Go Round and Round...
Earthdivine replied to DZD's topic in Stories of NSS Cyberiad
I was trying not to burst out laughing when I saw the ling and sec officer get sucked right out of the ship, it was just so good. -
Another reason not to raise the cap is due to ZAS, a bigger bomb means much more equations needing to be solved and added, causing the game to lag even more. The bomb cap is in a good place in my opinion, its roughly at the same size as Goon's station too. What needs to be done honestly is the ability to make more Tank Transfer Valves, so you can make more then 6 bombs.

PAi's can be made dirt cheap from science, at a very low tech level. If the science guys are refusing to get you one, slap them and call them silly for denying you when it costs less then a sheet to make.

The reason for the all maintence access was due to Ponies editing the access to the fire locks, to allow players a way out of fire/air locked areas rather then be forced to die inside of the hazard because they can't crowbar the locks open anymore. This isn't an opinion on this, thought I'd give some insight to why the access is like this.

We got the tech for when it comes to (re)gaining control of doors and sytems, it should be an easy copy and pastejob if you wanted to make the borg hack the doors open.

Hello to you both Already enjoying my time back here, you never realize how much you miss something until you try it again. EDIT: and back to spinning, this makes me giggle far more then Jergingah did.

This is impossible now with the new /TG/ licensing though, very sad news

How about we reduce the hard suits to EVA storage and revert the armor change, and put a lot of soft suits in engineering? The hard suits would be for times where there's a known threat to the crew and the engineers would NEED that defensive armor to do their jobs and keep them safe while doing it.

http://www.reddit.com/r/SS13/comments/2 ... right_now/ Due to this video we are getting a massive influx of people who are joining the server with little or no knowledge of the game, so in order to deal with this we are being a lot less tolerable with rule breaking or being rude towards other players, purely because we won't have the time to sit and learn about the situation, instead having to make snap decisions to get to other problems. We're sorry if this causes any problems with your experience today, just remember to post in the Unban fourm if something happens today so we can get to it when things calm down. EDIT: Thanks to Tiger for reminding me, Mel has set up a second unlisted server, so if you don't want to deal with the influx of Greytide please go over there for now. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3310

Incoming words! The engineering hardsuit needed a nerf. That's a given. As Fox pointed out the hardsuit covered the whole body from the neck down, with the same values as the security vest, and being the safest armor in the entire game from the environments of SS13, meaning engineering was, in all regards, as sturdy as security at all times, because there's literally no point in taking off the hardsuit outside of roleplaying. Now step away from the hardsuit and take a look at engineering as a whole. They can access any door on station, they control the most powerful forces of the station, and literally dictate if the station is even going to run this shift. They have the easiest access to space gear and the means to enter space, meaning they can go into the station from any place they choose. All of this AND the same defensive qualities as security? All engineering is missing is a way to stun people and they could just be the security force, oh wait they can make improvised stun batons. Hell, if they wanted to they could keep security from even leaving their damn department, can sec do that? The sec tape can be cut by Wire-cutters, so no, they cant. Engineering can kill someone without ever being there if the player knows how to use Atmos. As for Realism, the RIG that the hard-suit is based off of? Take a look at Issac's engineering RIG. It sucks. There's barely any metal or armor plating outside of the chest and spine in Dead Space 1, most of the suit itself being made of Leather or other space worthy material. As you progress through the game you upgrade from Engineering RIG, to a Security RIG, and finally a Military RIG. The Engineering RIG sucks defensively, both in it's concept and it's in-game use. As for the hard-suits, the only one I believe was affected was the engineering hard-suit, the Security one is still fine right? That's good, because there's about 7 engineering hard-suits, 4 in secure storage and 3 to be used immediately, 8 if you count the CE's. That's A LOT of hard-suits, compared to security's 2. It even outnumbers the amount of Security vests available at the start. Granted you can order more through the Cargo Shuttle, but that's still a lot of free power laying around for someone to get. I have even more words to say about engineering as a whole but I figured i'd stop here. EDIT: I got more words! About balance though! A big thing with Bay and /TG/ Balance is, they don't. I remember a coder way back when saying, rather then balance the shit they were making, the admins can patrol and make sure no one abuses the stuff they were making. How is that anywhere close to being a good idea? Things from Baycode really need to be hit, the hard-suits being one of them just because how GOOD they are, combined with the rest of the shit engineering has. If not the hard suits, then what else would we have hit. Would you want engineers to be without a free multitool so we can at least restrict their access better? Make the hard-suit not space worthy so they aren't the only department that can space travel? It's a very minor balance nerf compared to what else could have happened.

If the doors flashing yellow it means the air alarm in there is telling it it's not safe to enter, generally. That's why they drop sometimes and then reopen, air alarm code is funny like that.
-
See I really like this, because A) people are dissuaded from spilling the beans because it could lead to shit being fucked up, and because even if they know how to do it, it's really hard. We were actually shown by a goon admin a way to keep things secret in our code even being opened source, but that open it's own can of worms about "open source" and having things open to the public from a coders standpoint.

Man why did I have to find this thread while I'm at work, I got so many words on this subject and a phone is so not the thing to write them on. So going to do a write up on why this is a good idea when I get home.

Very if you got an old version of the GitHub.

The thing with Mech weapons is that the Mechs themselves are very obvious, you can tell when they are being made, many are slow and very telltale with their loud thunking footsteps and you can use the computer in the RD office to immediately lockdown the mech. With the weapons from RD you can hide them in your backpack and some don't even have a sprite to see the player having them. The Weapons are powerful but also gated through the mineral cost of the mechs themselves. A single sheet of a mineral can go a long way in the R&D Department.

Thats what Goon does, the playerbase just needs to get used to the Idea of a second server and eventually they will split it up. That said, a week might not be enough time for them to get used to the idea.
-
Thats incredibly easy to do, i usually let my characters die, very used to Goon. Hell, i even helpped an antag make a gameplay to kill me once, he didnt even know until the end of the round.

I wasn't already?

They do! They do actually block projectiles on a small percentage, according to what Ponies had said when he put them in, same way the E-Sword has a chance of deflection.

A new year brings new beginning and old ones must be left behind, I have decided to stop the Spinning.

This has always been a problem on the server and we have tried to deal with it, however the main problem is the influx of players from other servers, notable back when /vg/ servers went down and we got an influx of players from there, making it much harder to have players keep track of what's allowed and what's not. As much as it hurts, the best way of handling this is to assume everyone knows. In a role playing sense, if Nanotrans is aware of everything after their work, why wouldn't they tell their employees what is after them? As much as this is a meta gaming problem, it also is an opportunity. This makes everyone suspicious of one another, and you can play off this fear. Make it look like its a different type of antag round and watch the meta gaming fly and people ignore you because their looking for something else. For example, you don't have to absorb living people as a ling, you can kill them and absorb the dead body to keep them from revealing you. People will see a dead body and usually assume traitor, particularly if you obscure the skin.

That was Arleen and that's because I didn't think many people would like being around a Xenophobe so Anya's replacing her.

Chemistry additions! [EDIT: Might work. Code it yourself!]

Actually they can, since their code is closed source, meaning any attempt to copy or take it without their consent is against legal laws. -
Never.

There's a lot of new faces around the server so I figured I'd make a new one of these for those who join the server in the spring and beyond. My name's Earthdivine and I've been with paradise since it's beginning, migrating over from BestRP about 3 days after the server was made. I used to be a senior admin and game master until some very serious real life shit took place. My House flooded during the winter, me and my fiancé got into a car crash and we were working dead end jobs so we could barely pay for any of it, and I couldn't handle the stress of moderating and dealing with this. Now everything's better, we got new and better jobs, so I figured now would be a good time to come back. I'm looking forward to continuing to help give great and fun experiances to you all. As for who I play, my main character is Ashlyn Newbern, a mute who's either peppy or cold, depending in how I want to play her as. I also have Walter Nealson, a fat, lazy geneticist and Anya Rosewell, over cheerful and prone to breaking things in her department. Those aren't my only characters, as I play with a Random name some times and see how people act when they don't know an admin is Infront of them Outside of the game I play League of Legends (always willing to play with people!), have an assortment of consoles and handheld games, but mostly play a phone game called Puzzles and Dragons.
