  1. Greetings everyone, I'm opening up this thread for general feedback from the playerbase. If staff would like to provide criticism or feedback, I will also be making a thread for that later in our section of the forums. I genuinely thought that except the hiccup in the beginning, everything went rather smoothly and well in the execution of the event. I encourage all of you to mention what you enjoyed about the event but also provide constructive feedback as to what you think could be improved. Please do not be rude. You're also free to share any screenshots or stories here as well.
  2. What happens if every event character is clobbered within the first 15 minutes for being wizards?
  3. Thanks everyone for participating. I'll be posting my summary of it sometime either tonight or tomorrow.
  4. not currently, but I'd be willing to take suggestions for future events
  5. preparation are going well
  6. Hello everyone, as some of you know I've been working hard on prepping to do a custom event. I'm asking for around 18 players (more is always great) to take on event roles. It will be on the Kerberos and will involve lore factions such as CyberSun and BioTech as well as custom event factions called the Motley Crocodile Pirate crew and the Cult of the Jasmine Chalice. There will be custom items, shuttles, and objectives and I think it will be a blast. The Event will be held during 2:30-6:00 PM EST on December 18 so make sure you're on the server at that time. If you're interested please fill out this Google Form Q&A: I'm not sure what this event is about, could you tell me some details?: I cannot actually tell specific details but the basic rundown is that there's a few factions (as listed above) competing for some rare artifacts on the Kerberos. Among the main roles, there's people that specialize in bounties, illegal trades, and reconnaissance. There will also be a general populace part of the event that will be the station objective and start about halfway through the round and go on for 10-20 minutes. What if I put down a character name but am going to change it inbetween now and the event?: This is just to help me a little bit, your CKEY is the most important information I need, however, I will ask for your new character name before the round start during the event. What if I'm absolutely awful at combat? Don't worry there's many among us that don't really play SS13 for hardcore combat or being the most robust of them all. Almost every role has RP aspects of it, some of them are almost completely RP/specialized mechanic based (think medical). If you're really concerned about not being able to fulfill a role with objectives that may involve a bit of fighting or sabotage please lmk over PMs beforehand. What if I get removed from the round or I show up late? don't worry! I have a minimum of 5 ghost roles prepared for those of you!!!

  10. Hey everyone! Solid work this month. Slow but steady edits is always a wonderful thing! I know this is a bit late but I still feel the need to be consistent. Some news from the general SS13 community: TG has finally started reviving their wiki team and is starting to clean up their currently dilapidated wiki. Good for them! Currently the Para Wiki is focusing on slowly but surely finishing some newer articles we began writing 1-2 months ago. Additionally, we're trying our best to keep up with the PR load but we got some catching up to do! What needs to be done on the Wiki: Apparel needs to be expanded (We're doing such a great job y'all, keep it up) Starters Guide to Admin Tools needs to be updated (more admin stuff) Cyborg should have more explanation regarding cyborg UI and have a mention of the diagnostic menu. Random Events has lots of outdated info and its styling needs to be brought up to speed (I'm currently working on this) Telecommunications images need a once-over/fix Detective is lackluster as a page and should be rewritten EMP effects could use stylistic improvements Guide for beginners needs a once-over Guide to Regex needs to be expanded upon Singularity Engine is missing images and could do with a rewrite Guide to Robotics is missing info about the Cyborg Analyzer Morph needs to be updated for the new rework These Pages need to be written: Guide to Cleaning Guide to Command/Leadership Service Items Derelict Researcher Courtroom needs to be filled out Electrical Maintenance Needs to be filled out Meta and Delta location need to filled out and added(image files that is) other shit I can't be bothered to add or has been added since time of writing, see: Maintenance Panel October Change Log: Special Event Roles has been rewritten and looks a lot nicer now Containers has been finished and received nice table styling Guide to Construction has been updated to include ALL constructions thanks to @Krossarn The following portal pages have been created Service Portal General Portal Supply Portal Guide to Robotics materials table cleaned up thanks to @Quacks Slaughter Demon had clarifications made regarding slime jelly thanks to @Charliminator Space Law contraband section updated with contraband rework Tasers have been removed EVERYWHERE Vampire has been updated thanks to @Threes and @Longpipe23 Clarifications made in Guide to Chemical Research thanks to @Twoscythe Most Engineering Pages have been updated to have more accurate info thanks to @ItsMarmite Keep knocking out those revision requests y'all. if you were @'d on this post it means that you contributed meaningfully to our wiki in some aspect and I'd hope you are willing to stay around another month to keep doing so. If you want to get involved with editing the wiki and don't know how, @ me on the discord and I'll happily sit down and teach you stuff when I get the chance. I hope to continue doing this every month. Here is a syntax guide for those who are curious As always, thanks for the hard work everyone!
  11. This would likely be used by antagonists as a weapon pretty much buffing every humanoid antag. Additionally, holy water is pretty well balanced currently, especially with the vampire rework. I agree there should be a coded in counter right now to feeding every holy water but for now we just bonk people for valid hunting and power gaming.
  12. If over time, morphs grow to be a terror or blob level threat, sure lets do a biohazard warning. Otherwise, we don't do biohazard alerts for other midround antags, I don't really see a point for a biohazard alert for morhps. It's just going to incentivize crew to curbstomp slower morphs.
  13. Romance between players is already a contentious subject, it tends to lead to less than acceptable behavior or "RP." If you wish to marry another players character in-game, just change your characters names and roleplay it out. There's such little tangible benefit to creating an object with a different description that requires another column in the DB.

  15. Hey everyone! Solid work this month. Little bit quiet this month with edits. To be fair most of us are busy with schooling however I do encourage everyone to atleast take a stab at something every 1-2 weeks. I took a trip to Boston, USA and was dealing with midterms so I didn't get to as much as I wanted to. That's not to say that things didn't get done. I'd also encourage everyone to review this post on discord that I made a month or two back. It's important to understand the type of community that we should be fostering as a wiki contributors. I like to praise wiki contributors for their selfless contribution to our server but I hope people don't take it as a ticket to consider oneself higher in status than another player. It's about making the server better and if you consider someone pointing out a wiki-mistake as a problem rather than a contribution I think you should reevaluate what it means to contribute to our wiki. That being said, onto the meat of our update. What needs to be done on the Wiki: Apparel needs to be rewritten(in progress, please help) Special Event Roles needs to be rewritten (details on the page) it also needs some kind of Gif Icon uploaded Starters Guide to Admin Tools needs to be updated (more admin stuff) Containers needs to have the tables styled and a few things cleaned up Cyborg should have more explanation regarding cyborg UI and have a mention of the diagnostic menu. 16. HoP has the authority to hire explorers, since they are the head of the service department (which explorers fall under) they have the right to hire service staff and therefor don't need the Captains approval. The captain, however, does have the authority to overule command staff as long as they aren't doing it in a way that violates SOP or Space Law. Both have control over it, however the Captain has final say over it if they decide to rule on it. This clause I've recommending has no impact on the hiring of explorers because that process is already well defined within SOP and doesn't need further clarification. Explorers going into the gateway after the HoP/Captain have declared that they will no longer allow excursions into the gateway are up for demotion due to insubordination (which is one of the more common demotion causes).
  17. hello hello this came up in a discussion on discord. General SOP for green alert says this about gateways: The Gateway is not to be opened without permission from the Captain or Acting Captain; This begs the questions, what does it mean to open the gateway? Does opening the gateway mean turning it on or does it mean opening up the shutters for public use? I recommend we alter the clause to this: Excursions are permitted in the gateway upon permission of the Head of Personnel or Captain but permission may be retracted at any time. However, the public gateway shutters themselves are not to be opened without explicit permission from the Captain. I considered keeping "Acting Captain" in there but it bloats the clause up a bit and seems redundant since Acting Captain is Captain in all respects except title and security of position.
  18. Just some commentary on some of the proposed SOP for this role. GREEN The Correctional/Detention Officer may not, under any circumstance, arrest anyone; Is the Correctional/Detention officer allowed to deal with unruly prisoners? Is the Officer allowed to chase after prisoners still in the brig but that escaped processing/a cell? Does this account as an arrest if they stun and cuff The Correctional/Detention Officer is permitted to carry a flash, their baton, and a can of pepperspray; What kind of baton? This could easily be argued to be any baton. It should specify: stunbaton; police baton; telescopic baton? The Correctional/Detention Officer must maintain the cleanliness, order, and basic functions of the Brig, Processing, and Evidence. If major repairs are needed, Engineering may be contacted and escorted around the Brig for repairs; I'm worried that this clause will be abused. Orderly's probably should not do any maintenance work above basic janitorial work. You run the risk of this becoming a brig phys 2.0 where the orderly is now replacing the need for a Janitor or Engineer to ever come to the brig. Furthermore, orderlies should be heavily discouraged from doing EVA's or anything responsibilities that are relegated to engineers. I do like the second part of this clause and I think this should be emphasized more. The orderly should be responsible for ensuring the brig is repaired and the right people are contacted, not that the orderly should perform the repair work themselves. The Correctional/Detention Officer must escort all prisoners requiring surgery to Medbay personally, and make sure that they are returned to the Brig before being released; is this all prisoners? What if a security officer is doing it? Does the orderly have to stick around and oversee the ongoing surgery? The Correctional/Detention Officer may not stop a timer if a prisoner is brought into the Brig Medbay for treatment. The timer is to continue while they are treated. If the timer runs out during medical treatment, the prisoner is to be released; Does this extend to prisoners receiving medical help out of brig medbay? If so, do they have to be returned to the brig before being released like stated in previous clauses? BLUE Additional equipment may be provided by the Warden for self-defence. Is there a limit to the type of equipment? What if the orderly finds the need to use an auto rifle to perform their duties, is that still within the scope of their duties to carry a weapon like that? Some further clauses/issues to consider: What's preventing the orderly from turning themselves into a brig phys? Should their be restrictions put on them regarding performing surgery, handing out security/combat implants, and/or installing medical machines in the brig? Is this something we need to worry about? What if the warden is dead and sec officers are too busy to handle the brig? Should the orderly assume the duties of the warden temporarily? Who has authority over the orderly? Is it solely the HoS or is the warden their immediate superior?
  19. zero tolerance for this thread going above one digit
  20. I'm in favor of a PR putting a mob cap on xenobio mobs as well.
  21. Hey everyone! Good work this month. The more people can tackle the revision requests list, the better. Just keep knocking em out! It's hard work but the positive effects are long lasting! This opens up our contributors time to really focus on new content and improving the wiki whollistically. What needs to be done on the Wiki: Apparel needs to be rewritten(in progress, please help) Special Event Roles needs to be rewritten (details on the page) it also needs some kind of Gif Icon uploaded Starters Guide to Admin Tools needs to be updated (more admin stuff) Containers still needs to be expanded, see the Needs revision description on page Cyborg should have more explanation regarding cyborg UI and have a mention of the diagnostic menu. What I really need help with is tackling the articles with big problems in them. There's quite a few articles building up that need to be rewritten and gone over by our expert players. I can keep us up to date with PR's and any kind of maintenance/organization work that needs to be done, however I cannot knock out entire article reworks. I just need some people to commit to rewriting stuff. if you were @'d on this post it means that you contributed meaningfully to our wiki in some aspect and I'd hope you are willing to stay around another month to keep doing so. 22. This is an idea I've had in the back of my head for a while (and one I'd be willing to code). What: Whenever a mob spawner pops up in game, terrors/swarmers/blob, it always has a popup icon in the top right of the screen indicating that the mob/antag is available. What I'm proposing is to add that same feature to karma giving and server polls (escape shuttle, next map). With the server poll icon showing up for 30 seconds upon a poll being opened and the karma giving icon show up upon the shuttle leaving or the round end(as with blob/nukies gamemodes). When you click on the popup, it opens up the menu to give karma or opens up the voting menu for a server poll. Why: It is extremely easy to forget to give karma at the end of the round. While I don't think it is absolutely necessary to give out karma each round it probably should be given out a bit more than it is. This may also help people get into the habit of giving karma as they'll become more aware of their ability to give it out. This also will help spread out karma to players who may not often(or ever) be in the central purview of deadchat during a round. As for server polls. Chatlog spams can happen. As an admin it's extraordinarily bad if I don't turn my attack log preferences down and the sever poll option is on my screen for perhaps a couple seconds. Similarly, if someone is in combat(as is common at round end), the option to choose the next map or call the transfer shuttle is easily sent into the abyss that is combat chatspam.
  23. The only way this is going to get solved is by code diving IMHO, if I get some time I'll look into it.
  24. this is probably my best bar maints build, this was like the 3rd iteration I did of maintenance bars
  25. I like this idea. I've drafted up a rewrite following some of your suggestions for supply SOP(unfortunately the system for this isn't public) especially some of the cross referencing stuff. Also, having duplicate clauses a.k.a QM clause 1 and CT clause isn't necessarily bad practice, that reiteration is necessary to establish that it is both roles responsibilities especially one that is the primary purpose of that department. Unfortunately you can't really force cargo to be on top of their paperwork, if they are great, otherwise it's up to the IAA to actually cross check order papers as well as the received crate manifests. I also would like to add these clauses to replace the cross referencing issues. This is not an unrealistic expectation by any means, especially for players who play QM or decide to assist cargo as a shaft miner. 8. The Quartermaster is required to follow the guidelines put in place for Cargo Technicians; 8. Shaft Miners are bound by guidelines set for Cargo Technicians when inside the Cargo Office or Bay;
