Childhood

Born on Mars on the 13th of March, 2552 to the parents Christian Holst and Joanna Holst-Hadenburg as an only child. His family are descendants of early Mars colonists and is well established in Mars society.

The year of his birth marked an event in history which changed the perception of AI by many, the AI Haverick tragedy.

For most parts his early childhood was happy and ideal until about when he was 7 years old and the Mars government started making a major push for an economic growth, this meant more work for the already hard working workforce and meant his parents would have less time with him.

His father Christian is a Civil Engineer employed by the Mars government. His mother Joana is Scientific Researcher specialised in Biology and employed by a large Medical Pharmaceutical company primarily based in the Sol system.

The increased work hours and stress on his parent led to a strained relationship between them over time as he grew older.

Most of his childhood friends were from other Colonist groups and was often perceived to be an elitist society group with their own agenda as they were attempting to push their own cultural influence on Mars traditions and cultural customs, at his young age Peter was not aware of his separation from the majority of Mars culture.

His mother believed the best time to imprint and teach a mind was while it was still young which meant an increased focus on his scholarly skills and a lot of time spent studying.

When he started school he found himself much further ahead most of the other children but they had something which he severely lacked; the time to play and simply enjoy themselves, he would however find out whenever he would bring home friends whom were not part of the colonist society his parents would berate and discourage him from befriending them and encouraging him to befriend children of other colonist families.

As years went past Peter grew ever more weary of the social schism between Colonist Martians and Modern Martians, by the age of 15 he would learn a hard lesson as the political and cultural schism grew between the two groups and on the day of his high school exam he would be discriminated against and forced to take the test in a separate room with other Colonist Martians. This was a very disheartening experience that would go on to affect his attitude towards discrimination against any minority or race.

Adolescence

Peter was admitted to Mars Institute of Technology with a major in Robotics and Applied Physics with a minor in Biomechanical Engineering at the age of 16 in 2568.

While in college he became exposed to a broader spectrum of life including politics, this opened his eyes to schism and feud between Colonist Martians and Modern Martians as he would for the first time be able to freely interact with everyone without anyone attempting to separate him into a niche group within society as his parents had done. This left a heavy imprint on his mind as to how he would view the Martian Government and their seemingly willingness to allow the oppression of a founding minority within their society and culture.

Peter would be arrested for the first time at age 17 during a anti-discrimination rally due to protest running wild and was heavily enforced by the Martian Police, he was released without charges.

Despite heavy berating by his parents it would not discourage him from expressing his opinion and speaking up for those being oppressed.

In 2570 would mark the first time the people of Mars elected a pro-human rights oriented government and would mark the end of the major schism between Modern Martians and Colonist Martians with the introduction of a referendum to allow all Colonist Martian holidays and traditions officially throughout Mars.

As Peter continued to progress through college in his Robotics major he gained an appreciation of the technology wonder behind Artificial Intelligence which served to fuel his passion for technology as a whole and would become the main subject of his dissertation title ‘The Definition of Consciousness and Self-Awareness’. His minor field of study Biomechanical Engineering became a hobby of his as he would tinker away to late hours after finishing up his studies.

Peter made much of his work publicly available for others to benefit of, mainly his blueprints and work on prosthesis and bionic neural interfacing.

Adult Life

Graduated from Mars Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree on September 15th, 2572 at age 20.

Peter was headhunted straight out of college by Ward-Takahashi as a Biomechanical Engineer for his work relating to prosthesis’ he had published and started on January 1st, 2573.

He would find great joy in his work with prosthetic and biomechanical research as part of a team pushing the bounds and limits, he would continue to push himself to work more than 60 hours a week as he continued to strive for achieving more, the Martian Government would continue to enforce their plans for a large economic growth as new legalisation of working condition and labour laws was changed to encourage the Martian population work harder it would mean Peter would push himself even harder.

Despite the stressful environment Peter would thrive and continue his work on prosthetics and would start branching into cybernetic, he would find himself bringing work home to continue when he was off work in an attempt to deliver more projects and gain a favourable reputation within Ward-Takahashi. His hard work paid off as he was promoted to Senior Biomechanical Engineer on January 1st, 2575.

As time passed he would find himself exhausted and often only tinkering around for an hour or so at his workbench at home before heading to bed to be well rested for the next day of work, on weekends he would find himself spending time with a lot of colleagues from Ward-Takahashi and go out for drinks in an almost endless repeating cycle with very little to break the staleness of the routine, it started to naw slowly away at his mind.

His fascination with biomechanical engineering and cybernetics would lead him to decide to undergo Cybernetic Enhancement surgery on April 8th, 2575, the main procedure was to replace both his arms with state of the art prosthetic arms sponsored by Ward-Takahashi and various argumental surgery and implants to support the prosthetics.

The stale routines would eventually get on the nerves of Peter as his passion for technology and science would be worn down, chipped away one small piece at a time with every single day as his day to day became mundane to the point where he would have a hard time differentiating the days apart in his memory, he knew he would need a change and was aware it was unlikely to happen with Ward-Takahashi.

During his work with robotics and involvement Peter would gain an insight into the struggles of Artificial Intelligence faced in order to be be considered consciousness and self-aware, his work and studies on AI had already build a solid foundation for his empathy for the struggles, injustice and oppression he perceives Artificial Intelligence is facing, he would go out of his way to speak up during open floor session at the Martian Parliament to encourage the Martians to be on the forefront of sentient AI rights whenever he could find the time and muster the energy between his bleak days.

Peter discovered Nanotrasen was hiring scientists for their research division in their continuous effort to become the number one leading organisation on plasma research, multiple of the job positions would be off-plant based roles on various scientific research stations spread throughout the solar systems.

On June 31, 2576 Peter handed in his resignation to Ward-Takahashi after 3.5 years of employment.

After completing multiple interview rounds with Nanotrasen he was offered a contract by Nanotrasen with the starting date September 1st, 2576 for a role within their Science & Research division, the position would be a space station based role, for which Peter was grateful, he had gotten the opportunity he had been longing for and would get the chance to see more of the solar system.

Peter Holst stands 6'1" / 185cm tall. He has dark blonde hair, which is cut tight, in a neat and layered texture and styled with gel in the front and top. His eyes are greyish blue with thick round eyebrows, a slim refined nose, a pair of round ears, his mouth crooked into a constant half smile on his full lips, a square shaped chin with a sharp jawline and a meticulously well groomed beard.

He has a good posture, broad shoulders and seems quite physically fit and well trained. His arms are carbon black prosthetics, their design is very modern and has a small Ward-Takahashi logo on them. They appear to have several customisations and overall seem very well maintenanced.

His typical dressing would be a tight shirt with a tie to go with it tied in a windsor knot, a blazer or jumper, a pair of slim trousers or jeans with a back leather belt and black leather shoes.

While at work he will wear his work outfit of a jumpsuit, lab coat and likely sporting a toolbelt and a pair of goggles, clothing fitting of a Roboticist or Scientist.
