Is there any good reason for them not being able to access EVA?

Im not familiar with mechanics but if they need an EVA suit, they could have their own in the mechanic shop, like the paramedic or sec space pod pilot have.

Mechanics build space pods, this would involve testing the space pod, in space, which is a vacuum. Like the pod pilot, I agree that it might be a good idea to give them their own EVA suit, like a softsuit akin to what the paramedic gets, on the caveat that they aren't supposed to be wearing it around the station as per SOP, again like the paramedic.

Extra points if their suit has fancy fancy colors or somethink :) Maybe it could have a built in toolset. That would make it pretty sweet.

Mechanic can just get EVA access from hop with a good reason, they don't need EVA access really, their job is to build, sell, upgrade & repair pods, not to explore space, that's more like an alternative thing to do.

 

Besides, can't they get space suits from space so easily? every mechanic does.

I don't think they should have EVA.

I DO think they should have an EVA suit/hardsuit however.
