Character Biography

 

Guthen Charson, born somewhere around Sol system in an arid climate land. While many agreed he's from Earth like many, his relative records show the origin that Guthen's families are settled at Mars for many generation. While he dropped education and lacked the degrees that any great students could wish for. Young Guthen lives his own life by spending a lot of times in the wild, warm and fresh breathable air away from industrial area. With all his experiences, Guthen possesses a great ability of a Hunter lifestyle and survivability in the harsh environments, however, with lack of advance education and studies he tend to be quite clumsy and tend to get his hands into something he does not know by his curiosity. He also tend to be really lazy and moody at some point due to his habits.

Now, Guthen working for Nanotrasen thanks to his childhood friend "Ruby Russhell", who recently got transferred into the Research Station NSS Cyberiad and forcefully convince Charson to assign into Nanotrasen employee and got him into the station Cyberiad as to do him a favor with the fresh new beginning and opportunities awaits him. Still wears his hat with now the trench coat, his new life begins.

Although Guthen still needs to adapt himself around the crewmen and the station itself, he tend to walk around and try to make friends he deems appropriate. While he tends to stay out of troubles, his own instinct can makes him dangerously unpredictable to his true intentions, most of times he does not think twice to determine his survivability. He would attempt to save his friends and others from immediate dangers and giving his best judgement and guidance through the situations. But he won't hesitate to run away for his own sakes.

While he does have much degrees on science and qualifies for any suitable Research job as station needs, Guthen makes his way on recommend into Security thanks to his Marksmanship and Forensic training. He was fitted to the Detective job and reserved enforcer if required.

He also finds Robotic works quite fascinating as how much he's really curious of the synthetic crewmen and cyborgs as much as he tried to communicate with them as a human being, he took basic Robotic training with Ruby and little knowledge of the machines and bots although he's still nowhere an Robotic expert yet.

Background:

Guthen Charson was born on Mars far away in a scattered group of small colonies where Plasma mining industries are high demand labor and business. His parents however like many others, didn't get to have much time to spend and raise him properly nor making enough of their unstable earnings. Young Guthen spent his childhood life wandering on his own exploring outside of the colony and industry far away from the society to find his own exciting life. When he reached 18 years old he decided to gave up on the education and start his first job at local mine to put his own food on table and his desire to live on his own without away from Industry life. That however changed when he and his childhood friends begun to form up a gang of outlaw bandits named "Copper Crooks". The members were six men with fake identity, Guthen was given the name "Brown Fin" for his appearance of full brown outfit. For many years Copper Crooks hit their scores by aim for big and cunning plans. From robbery, heist thievery and raid of cargo of valuable ores and their targets were frequently the towns of specific wealthy colonies and large transport cargo load of goods.

One day, the gangs hit on a high-risk and bold plan to rob a mansion of a supposedly rich Benefactor of the large corporations. The rumors of the cash and valuables locked inside the vault in the mansion and possible Goods to sell in black market are too good to be true. This could seal up the deal for the gang for a life time of wealth anyone could dream of.
Upon raiding the mansion and the high-secured vault, the gangs discovered much of prototype technologies belongs to SolGov as well as blueprints of Plasma-based weaponry still in early stage of research and development among the valuables. As unusual as a Benefactor would possess such items, the gangs stripped the whole place of anything that can be sold back to black markets. The heist was successful, however, the law enforcements responded quickly to the scene and the gangs had no choice but to improvise escape route.
During the escapade, Guthen is betrayed by the gang on the leader's behave. Cutting Guthen loose will give them the time they need to escape and strip of his score cuts. Guthen was shot but is blocked by his firearm, however, the gun itself breaks and explode on his hand due to the damage sustains on a poorly manufactured design. Wounded and one hand blown off, Guthen takes cover low while being fired at by his own gangs over until they took off the scene with a large transport truck leaving Guthen behind as a bait for the Enforcers to be arrested.

Captured and sentenced to jail for a life time. SolGov constantly interrogate Guthen for the information about his gangs and whereabouts the stolen goods from the mansion. Unfortunately Guthen didn't have any useful information they don't already know. He'd be in jail for the rest of his life. Or at least that's what he thought.

Seven years passed. Guthen received a visitor, a man dressed in black suit with blue armband. With the logo that gave away its identity, Nanotrasen. And this man is here to make a deal. He shares a lot of files and papers to Guthen. A lot of details are confusing and complicated but after a few moment, the debrief is clear. Nanotrasen were investigating on the old robbery case regarding of a Benefactor that tied up with SolGov. That day of robbery the mansion was holding a sensible "dead drop" containing secret documents that Nanotrasen are interested. After the heist, the gangs Copper Crooks were quickly dissolved from the radar of the law. But a new foundation of wealthy people quickly bloom up in the same length of time where they build up a small but rich town filled with casino and industry business over a newly discovered plasma rich land. They believed that the Founders of this new luxury town would be Guthen's old crew. And they were correct. Guthen quickly recognized all of five faces shown in the pictures.

Not much is explained clearly. But Nanotrasen could not directly touch them due to well-known corruptions and blackmailing the Founders are capable of. But Guthen, being their ex-gang member. A nameless outlaw. He's the perfect candidate.

When Guthen questioned why would they need him in this matters. The request is clear:

"Kill the Founders. Destroy everything you find. Destroy the town."

He'd be doing the dirty work for them this time. Should he accepts and finish the job. He will have his freedom and criminal records wiped clean.

Still heated with vengeance and anger, Guthen accepts the deal. Geared up and armed with everything the mysterious NT man could provided to him. Highly expensive gears and arsenal from black markets. Easily disposable and non trackable. And new robotic hand replaced. He was ready. And headed to the town.

The alarms and screams quickly rose up all over the town when first gunshot is heard in Casino building. Then one by one each buildings would blow up and slowly collapse violently. There was Guthen on his rampage shooting everything that got on his way. With well prepared gears and plenty of explosives, it didn't take long for the guards and gunmen to break and became disorganized and eventually the uncontrollable chaos.

During the shootout, Guthen discovered much of evidences filling the gaps of his questions: After the robbery at the Mansion seven years ago. The Copper Crooks decided to disband themselves and use the stolen wealth to buy the land of the rich plasma and build up colony by themselves and use the stolen sensitive information to blackmail the SolGov to keep them tamed. However, they did discovered the dead drop documents and they knew how important it was. The documents themselves contained much of important arrangements of Nanotrasen on Sol system. They were using it to sell to third party rival Corporation, The Syndicate. With the exchange for more secret information of the SolGov the Syndicate have. They can it to exploit the SolGov around the Mars and use that to monopolize as many plasma rich area they can get. That's why Nanotrasen investigation were very intense that lead them to find Guthen in the first place.

As the massacre continues. One of the building exploded triggering a massive chain reactions that reached the Plasma storages causing high plasma exposures and burn up quickly. Now the town is on fire. But one building still stand. The central of the town. Where Guthen's last target would be. His old gang leader. The fight lasted only a few minutes with the building already struggled in violent flames. And it all ended with one last shot from Guthen, killing the last Founder of the city. With mission accomplished, he harshly steal what he can from the building and leave the town.

And finally, the giant building at town square remained the last to slowly consumed by fire and collapse following the explosion chains lead to the mining causing huge cave-in destroying entire industry, factory and cargo that held inside.

Guthen rode fast and far away into the land of deserts where he'd met up a dead drop and sealing his deal with Nanotrasen agents. They were watching him and made sure he got his job done right. The mysterious figures who were waiting for him appears and shown him the proof of his criminal records being wiped clean and some compensation for his "service". And at last. He's free.

As the men in black took off and flew away to the opposite direction, Guthen took his last glance behind far away where a large black sky can be seen before took off his destination at the unknown...

Two years later. Guthen found himself with his times at a local bar in a small village colony. Lived up to his every cash and unemployed. He was suddenly disturbed by a familiar figure.

Ruby Russhell. A woman with blue hair and mechanic eyes of red Ruby now working with Nanotrasen. And so another Guthen's childhood friend. Called up upon his name, angrily, arguing for his long hiatus unemployed and disappearance.

After long arguments, Ruby let out a soft sigh and stares at Guthen blankly with her bright red mechanical pupils. Ruby offered him to get himself employed by Nanotrasen on a Space Station where she works. Unwilling to let him stay on Mars without a job and  purpose in life. Nothing is gonna stop this woman from her words. The two shared a lot during their childhoods. And Guthen remembers that well.

Guthen is relief to know Ruby does not know anything about his doings in last ten years. But surprised by Ruby's maternal behavior. He doesn't really have much else to say. Guthen would close his eyes lazily and smile and let out a slow laughter. With no other options left. He'd agreed.

And a year later. Guthen Charson finally made it to assign himself to work for Nanotrasen, sending him to NSS Cyberiad located at Epsilon Eridani sector. While he's still uneasy about the idea of being in one of Nanotrasen's Space Station let alone being in space after all his life on Mars. He'd bite his teeth and stare at his own reflection in a window. This is the new fresh start he wanted. Even if it's not what he expected to turn out.
He looks at his hat. Laid down on the seat next to him. Its left brim has a visible cut mark. The same mark when he was shot at by his gang.
He signed and put the hat back on.

"Aye. Of course, I'm bringing my hat."

So, reading backstory is preety hard ((I gave up at some point :P)). Can you change the color from auto to pure black? That would help.

Oh! Thank you for noting that! Didn't know it'd be like that haha, must've been a pain trying to read all that in default color. At the another hand though, I'll try to rework with the backstory making it easier with wording.
