Biography: Born and raised within a family of Nanotrasen employees, Nathan has moved from station to station around the known galaxy. Working for NT was a foregone conclusion and he enrolled as an engineering apprentice within NT from a young age. His father was a shaft-miner and his mother a QM, both coming from limited educational backgrounds. Attending NT sponsored schools, both Nathan and his brother Nicholas have benefited from a much higher degree of education.

 

Nathan takes after his father, seeing himself as very much a blue-collar labourer. He doesn't care much for official procedures, paperwork or other such "wastes of time" (as he sees them). Instead he prefers to focus purely on what works and what doesn't. He's very hands-on and learns by doing. The only thing that matters to him is the task at hand and he remains on duty for as long as he can find work that needs doing. On the rare occasions that his work isn't necessary he enjoys relaxing with a few drinks at the bar.

 

His inability to follow protocol and a tendency to disrespect senior officers who don't "get their hands dirty" or who don't understand engineering has stalled his career. While he remains securely employed for his skills, his promotion chances are extremely limited and few people would like to see him in any sort of leadership position.

 

He's married, at least for now, with a one-year old son Toby. Doesn't devote much time to his family, spending more focus on his job with NT. Instead his brother Nicholas usually ends up taking care of his son.

 

Qualifications: Engineering apprenticeship on NSS Exodus, numerous postings thereafter.

 

Employment Records: Frequent transfers between postings with mostly positive approval ratings. Familiar with all classes of engines and licensed to operate engineering mechanical tools up to RCD class.

 

Security Records: One charge of assault upon a superior officer. Engaged in a brawl with a chief engineer. His defense was that the chief engineer blamed Nathan for work that the chief engineer had screwed up himself resulting in a plasma leak into the engineering wing.

 

Medical Records: Use of a welder without proper eye-protection has resulted in retinal damage, further eye damage must be avoided to prevent permanent damage. Presciption for Imidazoline.
