Name: Brian Moore  [Clearance: Security] (disputed)

Age23 [Clearance: Security] (disputed)

Gender: Male

Race: Human caucasian [Clearance: Security] (disputed)

Blood TypeO+

General Occupational Role(s):

  • Shaft miner (former)
  • Engineer (current)

Biography: Born in 2540 in the independent planet of Nueva Tierra. Moore's early life was mostly uneventful. In sharp contrast to the crime-ridden state of the world, both of Moore's parents had cushy corporate positions and gave him a stable childhood. He performed exceptionally well in schools and had a degree in engineering. The most notable event in his life occurred when he briefly went missing after his transport got hijacked by a local cartel. Reportedly, the cartel released him after he paid his own ransom by granting them access to his account. After this, Moore left his homeworld out of safety concerns and went to space for works, which eventually led him to us in 2561.

Initially, Brian applied for mining in spite of his engineering qualifications. When asked, Brian stated that he was in a dire financial state and mining paid better. In 2562, Brian was caught outside during an ash storm and killed. Fortunately, some golems found his corpse and teleported it to the station's medbay. Unfortunately, due to the incompetence of a junior medical officer, Brian's tattered corpse exploded when it was injected with the strange reagent. With no other option, the medical team humanized a monkey and transferred his mind into it, thereby resurrecting him.

After this incident, Brian requested a job change to engineering, citing safety concerns. His request was granted and Moore is still serving as a station engineer to this day.

Spoiler

We have strong reasons to believe that Mr. Moore is not who he says he is. There are several oddities with his story, most notably how poorly he performs as an engineer even though his qualifications should suggest otherwise. Fearing that he might be a hostile agent using a false identity, we had several agents discreetly look into his past. After the result came in, we came to the conclusion that that "Brian Moore" is actually Jose Juarez, a member of the Alvarez cartel and one of the men involved in the kidnapping of the real Brian Moore.

Jose Juarez was born in 25XX to an unknown family of mixed Caucasian and Hispanic descent in Nueva Tierra. His name is likely to be a pseudonym. He had been engaging in various criminal activities since a young age and eventually rose to prominence as a minor boss of the Alvarez cartel. He had learned some engineering and chemistry skills from the streets, which led to him being entrusted with running a drug lab and a small gun press for the cartel. From what we can gather by questioning his former associates, Jose frequently botched his job due to his meth addiction and was considered a liability by most of the bosses. Eventually, he screwed up so badly that his life was on the line. With few other options to save his own hide, Jose ratted out his bosses to the police and got many of them put behind bars. Unfortunately for him, the bosses continued to run things from behind bars, and they weren't happy with a coward snitching them out. Jose was put under witness protection, but the police were so corrupted that his new identity was leaked mere days after he got on the program.

Desperate, Jose began to look for unorthodox ways to escape. What follows is completely speculative from our part. Somehow, Jose managed to put together a small crew and successfully kidnapped the real Brian Moore. Moore was known to be estranged from his parents and had few friends, so no one important was likely to notice his disappearance. Jose presumably stole Moore's identity and modify himself to look like him at some point. The entire stunt probably cost him a fortune, which explained why Jose was in such a dire financial strait when he came to us as "Brian". We believe that he initially applied for mining because he was afraid that his poor engineering skills would give himself away instantly. We also believe that "Brian" deliberately killed himself with the ash storm, knowing that there was a golem outpost nearby and that we have the ability to resurrect him by humanizing monkey. Even if his body didn't explode, it would have been damaged enough that med would likely use a monkey anyway. By giving himself a new body, "Brian" is able to completely erase all traces of his old body and give himself the perfect cover  for why his genes don't match with the real Brian. Truly, a plan only a methhead could come up with.

What happened to the real Brian Moore is unknown, but it's highly likely that "Brian" and his crew left no loose end behind.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree, Ibanez Technical University
  • [Clearance: Security]  Informal education in engineering and chemistry.

Employment Records:

  • Engineering intern, Paragon Mining Company, 2559-2560.
  • [Clearance: Security] Drug lab manager, Alvarez Cartel, 25xx-2560

Security Records:

  • While on a repair mission, a crewmember undid Brian's work, leading him to become belligerent and assault the crewmember. Security quickly arrived on scene and put both of them under arrest. Brian was charged with battery.
  • An officer discovered Brian holding an improvise shotgun while on patrol. Upon being confronted, Brian cooperated and willingly entered custody. He reasoned that the shotgun was for his personal protection against unseen threats in maintenance. He was charged with illegal possession of dangerous weaponry, but due to his cooperation, received a reduced sentence.
  • Suspect of narcotics manufacturing. Insufficient evidence to prosecute.
  • [Clearance: Security] Is using a stolen identity to work for Nanotrasen.

Medical Records:

  • He has a problem with substance abuse, including narcotics and alcohol. All attempts to cure him have ended in rellapses. Update: Brian has been dry for several shifts in a row now. It could be an indication of him taking his job more seriously than before.
  • His left leg has been replaced with a cybernetic enhancement. According to him, his normal left leg falls off so often during explosions that he just decided to get a cybernetic one.
  • His lungs, heart, liver and kidneys have been replaced with cybernetic. This is possibly related to his substance abuse issue above.
  • His current body is made from a humanized monkey.

Personnel Photo5'9''/1.75m tall. Brown hair. Green eyes. White skin. Medium build. Unkempt hair and beard. Very shifty-looking. He's never seen without a welding helmet.

Spoiler

He may not be who he says he is, but so far "Brian" has not done us any true harm. His performance as an engineer is initially poor, but it has improved greatly in recent times. Nanotrasen neither has rules against nor are forbidden from hiring convicts. As long as "Brian" remains useful to us, we are to ignore his past. There is little incentive to turn him in, given that he is still officially on witness protection and his identity theft shenanigan is not yet discovered. Simply put, Jose Juarez is an innocent man as far as the authority of his home is concerned. By keeping this a secret, we have the perfect leverage to keep him under our thumb.
