NOTE: The current genetics code on Paradise was updated and changed. This guide doesnt match with our current code.

So, you ran out of things to do and decided that you want to have super hulk X-ray telekinesis cold resisting no breathing powers, Eh? Well, surprising or not, it can and most likely will be a tedious process, but always remember: 'In the end, It will be worth it' Now, to the unclear guide!

Starting off

So, beginning of the round and you spawned in, you will be greeted with the eye sore brightness of med bay! (If you join in the middle of the round, Genetics is in the eastern section of med bay as well as the western section of R&D) Now, you'll notice some red boxes on the table to the left. They each contain a set of cubes, in which can be used to grow a certain version of a monkey. (Farwas, Stoks, Actual Monkeys, Etc) I highly recommend using the plain monkey, as for me it seems to give off the best visual results, which will be used later. You can take any of them and unwrap them by clicking them in your hand, then it should turn into a brown cube. Walk into the primate pen and use the unwrapped cube on the sink, and a poor test subject whose main reason to be living is to die by horrible irradiation should appear. Now just drag him against his will out of the pen, grab him, and stuff him into the DNA modifier that lies right next to the computer.

Explaining the blocks

Now, you have your monkey (or other version of a primate) into the modifier, its time to mess with some genes! But, safety first, You don't want to be stuck blind, deaf, and with tourettes, do you? Now, when you open the console, you will notice a few tabs at the top, under the status of your test subject. When you open the tab Modify Structural Enzymes, or S.E, you will be greeted by a interface that has 27 blocks, with 3 sub blocks per block. Each sub block has a randomized number from 1-9, or a letter from A-F. The numbering system works in Hexadecimals, which is basically counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, And F being the highest value of the bunch.

Looking down to the block numbered 27, The last one, you will notice that the first sub-block in it is a letter, unlike the others. That block represents whether the subject is a human or not. If the first sub block is above the number 8, Than the subject is a primate. If it is below, It is a human. You want to make it a human, so, select the first sub block in block 27, and hit the irradiate button until it is below 8. Right click the modifier and make sure it is a human. If it is, Great! If it isnt, make sure that the first sub block is below 8 again!

Once it is a human, go back over to the SE section and take a look over every single block and make sure the first sub block on each of them is below 8. Once that is done, go to the transfer buffers tab, And find the button labeled structural enzymes. Click it, and then the entire DNA strand of your monkey human should be saved to the computer! Now, you want to make sure that your DNA strand is clean of any disabilities and the such, so hit the injector button and a new injector should show up on the console, It looks like a little red syringe. Take that and inject yourself with it (Note that this will give toxin damage, as will all SE Injections! Anti toxin is recommended highly!) After it says '[Name] has injected themselves with the syringe!' check below that message to see if any new messages come up. If it is clear, then you have a clean SE and are ready to start testing. If its not, and you have a disability on your so called 'Clean' SE? Then hopefully you can ask your fellow geneticist for a clean SE disk, and if you are alone then you have to go back and root through the DNA strands looking for the disability. I prefer just grabbing a new monkey and repeating the process for getting the clean SE, But that is just me.

The Tedious Part

Now, insisting you have a clean SE at the ready, its time to start working at those Genes! I'd suggest getting out your PDA and ready to write down the notes of what each block does, or some other form of note taking. Now, getting actually started. If you have a genetics partner I recommend making a agreement on who is going to start from block 1 and up and who will start from block 26 and down. That will narrow down the time it takes to find what every block does when both of you are working on something different. If you are working alone, Just start from wherever you prefer.

Now, to finding powers, you evil genius! But this is a process that may or may not make you want to rip your hair out. To start, You want to irradiate your starting block to the hexadecimals DAC or higher. This means that if you have say, D61, then you irradiate the 6 until it is an A or higher. If you get to a Hexadecimal higher, as B, than the third sub block does not matter anymore, as you are technically above DAC. The same with block One. If you get the First sub block to E or F for example, then it is already higher than DAC, so you may test it. To run over it again as that seemed confusing, If you get the first sub block to above D, it is ready. If you get it to D and have the second sub block to B, then it is ready. Getting it to DAC is the bare minimum that a possible power will manifest. Any disability will form if it gets above 8, Though, making disabilities much easier to come by.

Here is a list of all powers, disabilities, the messages what they give, and what they mean

Lesser powers

Your skin feels strange - You can now morph your basic appearance with a new 'Superpowers' tab in your top right.

You feel no need to breathe - You no longer need oxygen to survive

Your skin feels dry - You are resistant to shock damage. Who needs insulated gloves, right?

Your skin feels rubbery - You can walk on and over tables like a monkey

Your mind expands - You can view people like an AI tracking someone with your Mind!

You feel quick - DOES NOT MAKE YOU QUICKER, But makes you not slowed down by Spacesuits and other apparel

Your body pulses with energy - You gradually heal brute damage naturally, Does not repair bones

Your mind expands outwards - You can talk to people telepathically, Make friends with the grays secretly!

Your fingers feel numb - You don't leave fingerprints anymore The perfect crime...

Major Powers

Major powers each have a different chance of manifesting, so if you get no reaction from a injector, its most likely a super power. Raise the blocks and keep injecting, You might get it!

The walls suddenly disappear! - You have X-ray vision, 30% of manifesting

Your body feels warm - You are no longer affected by coldness. Combine this with no need to breathe and you can go in space without any gear! 30% of manifesting

You feel smarter - You have Telekinesis! You can click on grabbable things from far away places and move them to where you desire, aswell as press buttons from farther away and such. A lazy mans dream! 15% of manifesting

Your muscles hurt - You are now a huge green monster that can break a wall just by punching it. Every power hungry geneticists dream! 5% Chance of manifesting

Disabilites

You Twitch - You swear like a sailor, and cant move or interact with things for short periods of time.

Its kinda quiet.. - You are deaf.

Your eyes feel weird.. - You are short sighted. Like wearing welding goggles.

You feel lightheaded. - You are clumsy, and guns explode in your face when you try to use them.

You cant seem to see anything... - You are now completely blind.

You feel strange.. - Randomly mutates you in very bad ways. Get rid of this ASAP

Testing what blocks do what

Alright, you have a block irradiated above DAC. Great! Now, you can go to Transfer buffer and scroll so you get to your second buffer in order to now overwrite your Clean SE. Then you save structural enzymes, and make a Block Injector and a menu will come up with the number [blocks] And their current sub blocks. Just go to whatever block you were testing, take it, and inject yourself. A new effect should arise, Good or bad. For example, You inject yourself, you get the message ' You feel no need to breathe' In blue text. Thats good! You found a minor power. Its not visible, but its there. Now, you test the next block. It says 'You feel nervous' In red text. You just found a disability. You'll want to take note of what block it is, go to your clean SE in transfer buffer, and get a block injector for the block with the disability. That will cure the disability.

Thats it

Yup. Just keep at that, injecting yourself constantly, getting tourettes, blindness, and some powers along the way. Thats really all I can say, as unclear as it is, thats how I work Genetics and it works. Ill attempt to reply to any questions if you have them.

This guide is good, let's make it even better!

Few things i would like to point:

-Disability: Coughing: You start coughing: each time you cough you drop items, that includes that "clean" SE you're trying to inject.

-Side-effects: This is the greatest danger in genetics. Each time you inject someone with the DNA injector, there's a small chance he will get a side effect, this does not depend of what the injector has, it just happens. The side effects can be easily countered with basic chems, and they have a limited duration, so they won't last forever if left untreated:

Genetic burn: Subject's skin turns unusualy red.. This will quickly give you a lot of burn damage all over your body, Dexalin stops the effect, but you can counter it with Dermaline to heal the damage too. You can also just jump into cryo.

Confuse: Subject starts drooling uncontrollably.: This one will also make you fall down for a moment. To counter it, you need to have Anti-toxin in your bloodstream WHEN IT FINISHES, that means you don't need to inject anti-tox inmediatly. I'm not sure of the actual duration, though (because what ##duration = 10*30## means? is that in tics? seconds?). If you get the final effect, you'll be confused, that means you won't able to walk normally, and you will walk in a random direction each time you make a step. Luckily, you don't need to move a lot as a geneticist, so you can just wait it out, and keep irradiating that monkey.

Bone Snap:Subject's limbs tremble notably. (not sure if this is the actual text, but it's close enough). This will break one of your bones when the side-effect finishes. You need Bicaridine in your bloodstream to prevent the bone snap, which is found in the sleepers, but you need another person to inject you the chems with the sleeper. And you better heal it, scream "SLEEPER BICARD" over the radio if needed, the surgeon is sick of fixing broken bones.

Monkey: Subject starts drooling uncontrollably.. Look at that, it's looks identical to the "confusion" side-effect, but this won't make you fall down (it could be actually the other way around, monkey makes you fall, and confussion does not, not sure). Luckily, you need the same: Anti-toxin. But make sure to get a lot of it, you should have two bottles in the medical locker in genetics, and more everywhere in the medbay. This also checks if the anti-tox is in the bloodstream when it finishes, so, if you don't inject enough you could still be turned into a monkey (two pills WON'T be enough, swallow the entire medkit just in case!). And if ou become monkey, you can actually be humanized back via Clean SE, but it will make the human catatonic, AKA it will just ghost you. So, try how it is being a monkey, maybe you will even like it! Monkeys can still get some powers, like telepathy to talk to people.

-Also, about the DAC thing, i once managed to give coldness resistance to three people with a B33. Yes, i'm confused too.

-And seems even blind you can still operate the DNA-computer, make a clean SE and inject it, you won't see the "is trying to inject" message though.

....im going to reget doing this....

Telekensis can be combined with Xray (durr) to slot AI modules in from outside the upload.

You can use Telekensis on computers to see if ID's are in them and if they are, take them out and float them to you.

You can use Telepathy while paralyzed as a good fuck you to 'lings and Rev's

Also, Monkeyization is planning on changing so it sets your Block 27 to FFF, so you can un-money yourself without ghosting. However, to compesensate for this, me and fox are brainstorming a new defect

Huh. Never knew you could use it while paralyzed.

Also; A good way to freak people out is by knocking on windows while hiding behind a wall.

You can use TK as a weapon by grabbing an object and hitting people with it.

You can also use TK to flash borgs and find a way to destroy them.

Great info, overall, but a couple of errors, mostly what's major and minor powers.

These are the majors powers and require the block to be above DAC to activate:

Hulk

Telekinesis

No Breathing

No Fingerprints

Small Size

Shock Immunity

Minor Powers (block needs to be BEA or higher):

X-Ray

Temp Resist

Remote Viewing

Regeneration

Quickness

Telepathy

Morphing

Very good guide :D I don't like playing genetics, its very complimented and confusing haha

Yeah uh...our genetics code is a bit messy at the moment. We have a lot more powers (most of which do not work or are quirky)....and 55 blocks.

In any event, this will all be changing, eventually; the UI and functionality of getting genes to activate (let alone getting the proper genes) will be completely and 100% different.

There will be no luck in activating a power; only luck will be involved in initially finding the power.
