realhesh Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I've always wanted to get into SS13, but I've never really been able to put the time aside to understand how to play it. I hope I'll be able to figure it out this go around, since my biggest barrier is understanding how to do basic interactions/tasks. Still, looks like a very fun game and I hope to be a regular on Paradise Station! Nerfection Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Don't worry about understanding things. In simplest terms: you won't! SS13 has so many different jobs and areas and antags and maps and little idiosyncrasies that you'll never be done learning! But don't worry about that being a barrier to your enjoyment. Paradise is a great station for learning. We have loads of friendly players and dedicated mentors to help you out. We've even just added a new role of professional trainers whose sole duty is to guide and teach! Some of my fondest memories of Paradise have been RP-ing as a new hire for a department, and having other players take me under their wing and teach me (and only sometimes also murder me horribly because they turned out to be a monster in disguise). Just try things out and talk to people. There's just as much fun to be had as a lowly janitor than there is as the most elite biochemist. Just talk to people. Try. Fail. Explode (probably). Try again. Be accused of being a vampire. Die. Try again. Be awarded the medal of valor for accidentally slipping up a rampaging mime. And keep going!
