some fluff ideas for kidan with little gameplay effect

The Kidan today are not natural kidan, they are a genetically engineered subspecies, the original kidan were even more like insects especially ants or termites or bees, just larger, the kidan hives spread across the planet, now kidan are much smarter than insects and were able to become civilized although very different from human civilization, each kidan acted as a part of the larger conciousness and together they developed science, technology, and artwork. The Kidan society learned that long ago an asteroid hit their homeplanet and feared that one day another asteroid may wreck the world that they flourished on.

 

Space Travel however had some difficulties, it was difficult to send many kidan into space at once, it was difficult to do space work with only a few workers seperated from the hive, The Kidan had practiced breeding of castes and genetic engineering for a long time so they devised a solution, a Kidan that could work in seperation from a hive, and they created the ancestors of the kidan that we know and love. These Kidan, while still loyal to the hives, could work independently and stuff which the kidan agreed was more effective for space work. The “Space Kidan” built starships in orbit and eventually built colony ships that could house a hive, while these ships would be difficult to launch from the ground, they were easier to launch in orbit. Thus began the interstellar colonization of the Kidan, the Individual kidan always were considered by the hive to be the ideal space worker, some of these Kidan now work for Nanotrasen as the Kidan and Nanotrasen are generally friendly to one another.

 

As for the Kidan's general level of technology, they are generally below NT levels, they use nuclear propulsion, lack artificial gravity beyond spinning/acceleration, and use fusion power. they do however have a knack for biotechnology

Kidan are a vegetarian hive warrior species that all come from one queen. They enjoy the taste of diona nymph.

Exactly, anything else can be developed organically. For example roleplaying my Kidan I try not to use the words: I, You, Us. Just skip them and talk like that, gives flair without taking too much effort.
