It writes cleaner, and takes up less space allowing for chemists to tag prefixes on without having to do full rewrites. For instance, one could write BRAIN - as a prefix, which would parse as... BRAIN - Mannitol (10u) Whereas BRAIN - Mannitol (10 units) is too long, and will default to Mannitol pill. Change provides utility, and looks cleaner and more professional.
