Admin Key: Tigercat2000

Complaint:

During the Vox Raider shortly before this post was made, Tigercat2000 initiated a round restart vote because the Vox had a bad round and were mostly dead. The two that were left were preparing to raid the armory at the time and were very much in play. The vote led to a narrow margin that made the restart happen. This completely destroyed the round for the remaining vox and didn't have any real explanation to it other than people seemed to be bored.

My problem here is that the Vox Raider game mode is either fundamentally flawed in it's interactions and should be removed or modified to fit the antags have to make the round interesting speech I was given, or the admins that allowed the vote to take place firmly overstepped their bounds by initiating that vote and ruining the remainder of the vox round.

Due to the round being at about 13:50, if the round was moving slow enough and the antagonist seemed sluggish, the online administrators may agree upon a restart vote to keep things moving smoothly, which, with provided logs, they did. I apologize that this had a large impact on your round, and the administrators involved have been instructed to allow for a crew vote to happen at about that time. In addition, if a restart vote happens, you may ask for the reason of the vote. According to those online at the time, the antagonists made no obvious movements towards progress, and no adminhelps were made during the time of the restart vote.

I was playing as the Blueshield this round and I understand both sides of this argument.

The Vox came in to trade, so already we were set for a boring round. The trading went fine, we got them everything they needed, until the CE said he found a brain on their ship. At this point, I will completely admit that I potentially broke meta rules, I said something along the lines of "I don't think it's a crewmember" followed by "((it spawns on their ship))". My justification for this is that I didn't want these Vox to have their antag round ruined because of a decoration. The situation with the brain led to the meeting room being closed, people got angry, someone took out a gun so eventually we orginised to take all the vox down at the same time (keeping in mind at this stage they threatened to kill the captain). This caused a bit of an LOOC war, with the vox players screaming we were valid hunting.

I assume the Vox's complaining and lack of action in the round caused the restart, which is understandable. But, on the other hand, at the time there were also Swarmers on the station AND the Vox were prepping to try and actually raid us for once. So personally, considering all I've said, I'd say the restart was unneeded.

On the topic of Vox raider rounds in general, I won't go into detail here but they need to be given incentive to RAID the station in order for the rounds to be interesting.

Given that more than 50% of the players were dissatisfied with the round at that time I wouldn't call it unjustified.

Admins are there for the community as a whole, not specific players.

Just to add to this:

I actually wasn't aware people were 'dissatisfied' with the round (beyond the raiders at any rate), I was of the opinion they were just plain bored due to the fact any action in the round went on in a locked down room.

Also, I want to ensure I think the vote was unneeded BUT not unjustified.

The decision to restart the round was voted on by the players at the time, and I don't see this as overstepping the bounds if a majority of antags are dead and the round is slow and boring for most of the crew. A forced restart when most players are against it however would be overstepping bounds (Unless of course for server health reasons).

However, it isn't something I'd encourage, instead preferring to go for a less..sudden, crew transfer vote over restart. Restarts should really be reserved for when the round is broken (Bugs, etc.). However, it does seem more players were in support of this than against, although if the margin was narrow then a crew transfer would have been better for sure.

I've spoken to Tiger about this, I don't see any need for formal punishments or anything.

While it's a false dilemma, I do however agree that Vox Raider is a fundamentally flawed roundtype. We haven't quite got the code to replace it going yet sadly. But that's a discussion for other boards, and outside the scope of this complaint. It is, however, something on the great huge to-do list.
