Statistics and Evolution Path
The Spitter is a Tier 2 and can evolve to other Tier 3 xenomorphs provided there are Tier 2 slots.
- Slash is the melee damage when the xenomorph is in harm intent and slashing marine. In the code, it's melee_damage.
- Melee, bullet, laser, energy, bomb, bio, rad, fire, and acid are soft armor values, not hard armor, which means that they reduce damage by a percentage rather than a flat value.
- Speed is calculated inversely, meaning the lower speed value you have, the faster you are. Xenomorphs are always running, meaning they have a -1.0 boost added to their base speed. (Chart displays running speed)
- Spit Delay is the charging time it takes to spit acid, a spit delay of 1 is 1 spit per second
- All acid spits are given a 145% boost to damage at base, and 160% boost to damage with the primordial upgrade, the value given is with the boost applied.
- The primordial upgrade for spitter allows them to use auto spit, with its damage and delay represented in this chart to the right of normal spit on the chart
The Spitter
The Spitter is one of the masters of ranged combat for the Xenomorph team. Though you lose the ability to spit neurotoxin, you gain a powerful acid spit and spray that can quickly incapacitate your targets. Remember that you are also a glass cannon and will best help your team by being ranged attack and support, not by running into melee fights where you can easily be brought down by weapon fire or explosions.
Playing the Xenomorphs Call of Duty man
To engage the marines and make the xenomorphs prevail, you can:
- Use acid spit to hit marines
- Poke around corners to shoot at marines
- Spit acid spray to stun marines
- Blast scatterspit to put the fear in marines' heart
- Maintain distance between marines
- Engage suppressive fire against marines' push
- Extinguish fire, whether on ground or on xenomorphs, with acid spray
Your acid spit is a fast-flying projectile capable of traveling up to seven tiles. When it hits a marine, it will do damage both from the impact and from the splash it makes as it puddles on the ground. Unlike neurotoxin, this burn damage is permanent until healed. Acid spit has a chance to be blocked by barricades, and will land in front of the barricade if this happens.
Your second powerful ability is acid spray which sprays a line of acid across the ground up to seven tiles away. This ability must be channeled for a short time (less than a second) and will then spread in a line towards your target, allowing you to move away even before it's finished. Acid spray will knock down any marine that it hits and will do damage to anyone that moves through it while it's on the ground. It can also be sprayed through barricades, making it a powerful tool for attacking fortified areas.
Spitter Abilities
Ability | Description | Plasma Cost | Cooldown | |||
Toggle Bump Attacks |
Allows you to toggle bump attacks on and off. This allows you to slash any enemy creature by running into them. The red arrow means it's on, you attack when on HARM intent; the green arrow means it's off, you push when on HARM intent. | N/A | N/A | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Rest |
Used to rest and get up. You heal faster when resting on weeds. | N/A | 2 seconds | |||
Psy Drain |
This ability is used on dead Marines. For every Marine's psyche drained, the Hive will gain between 30 and 90 psychic points, depending on the number of Marines spawned; and 1/8 of a larva. | 50 | N/A | |||
Corrosive Acid |
Expels acid onto an object or wall, destroying it after a while. If used on wall, a hole will appear after some time. Small xenos can climb through, large xenos can break the wall with the hole on it open. CTRL + click to interact with the acid hole. During the prep phase, all xenomorphs with this ability get strong acid.
[Acid Strength by Caste]
|
75 if caste has weak acid; 100 for medium and strong acid |
N/A | |||
Xeno Spit |
Spit neurotoxin or acid at a target or tile. While neurotoxin is generally not lethal, it will cause pain and slow marines and can have a big impact while supporting other Xenos or fighting on your own. Your acid spit will do burn damage and can slowly wear down poorly-guarded barricades. | 40-100 | N/A | |||
Scatter Spit |
Scatter spit discharges a buckshot spread blast of 6 x 20 burn damage acid projectiles that leave short duration acid puddles behind. | 280 | 5 seconds | |||
Spray Acid |
Channel a linear spray of acid across the ground at a target or tile up to 7 tiles away. Knocks down targets it hits and does tick damage to any target that stands in or moves across the acid while it remains on the ground. Extinguishes fires on friendly xenomorphs and on any turfs. | 250 | 30 |
Primordial Evolution
Once the hive has enough psychic points, your queen has the option to unlock powerful primordial evolutions for each strain. Primordial evolutions grant additional abilities for the relevant class.
For the Spitter, this primordial ability is Machinegun Spit.
Ability | Description | Plasma Cost | Cooldown |
---|---|---|---|
Machinegun Spit |
Massively decreases the firing delay of acid spit. | N/A | N/A |
Tips & Tricks
- Spitters are very accurate. Take advantage of darkness and range to constantly deal damage to marines on the edge of your vision.
- Acid spray applied in the right spot can turn the tide of a battle or save your life if you need to escape. Don't forget to use it.
- Your acid spray works wonders in tight places, and using it at the right moment for your escape will be essential.
- Peaking around walls is a good strategy for widdling down guarded emplacements and dealing chip damage, good for harassment.
- Your scatter spit does a lot of damage, but its windup may leave you fairly vulnerable. There isn't much else to say on it.
- At any given point you have the opportunity to, acid marine's dropped guns. That and the ammunition boxes for those guns.
- You and other spitting-type castes can take down razorwire in little time, making great lanes for crushers to breach with, just remember to communicate since marine engineers can replace razorwires very quickly.
- You don't do great with many allies, they'll simply block your acid. Stick with a smaller squad of xenos and make sure one of them gets leader for pheros, you'll need pheros with your abilities costing a lot of plasma.
- More on your plasma, consider asking a drone or hivelord to help you recover plasma faster. You're ranged so you won't need much healing but you will still certainly need the plasma.
- Don't get caught by stagger, your life relies on you being able to spam your abilities at all times.
