This page is a part of the TGMC wiki.

TGMC is a project based on the CM-SS13 codebase.

TIER 2 XENO

Pyrogen

Difficulty: Medium
Rank: Hatchling (Starting), Young (10hrs), Mature (25hrs), Elder (70 hrs), Ancient (175 hrs)
Duties: Light marines up on fire from afar.
Guides: This page

Statistics and Evolution Path

The Pyrogen is a Tier 2 and can evolve to other Tier 3 xenomorphs provided there are Tier 2 slots.

  • Slash is the melee damage when the xenomorph is in harm intent and slashing marine. In the code, it's melee_damage.
  • Melee, bullet, laser, energy, bomb, bio, rad, fire, and acid are soft armor values, not hard armor, which means that they reduce damage by a percentage rather than a flat value.
  • Speed is calculated inversely, meaning the lower speed value you have, the faster you are. Xenomorphs are always running, meaning they have a -1.0 boost added to their base speed. (Chart displays running speed)
}

The Pyrogen

The Pyrogen is a Tier 2 Xeno capable of producing fire that can set marines ablaze. What Pyrogens lack in burst damage and durability, they compensate for with area of effect attacks.

How to BURN marines

The primary responsibilities:

As above, the Pyrogen lacks burst damage and thrives in cramped areas (i.e. resin mazes or tight chokes) that give marines little options but to either set themselves on fire or stay where they are. Pyrogens are weaker in open areas where marines can simply walk around the flames they produce. As such - avoid fighting in the open where possible. Pyrogens aren't very strong on their own, and need the help of other xenoes to make proper use of their toolkit - or if nothing else to act as a bullet shield.

In short

  • Use Fireball/Fire Storm on crit marines to prevent easy recoveries
  • Use Fireball/Fire Storm on chokes to force marines to take damage if they retreat
  • Use Fireball/Fire Storm the paths marines need to advance or retreat to force them to make a bad decision - Stay put or set themselves on fire.
  • Avoid fighting alone when possible.

Melting Fire

Most of your abilities set marines on fire. This special blue fire is weaker than your normal fire, and won't change a marine's body temp. It can be extingiushed like normal fires, with extinguishers, by resisting, or other marines patting them out with their bare hands. Otherwise it'll deal steady damage over time, scaling with the amount of fire stacks a marine has. Stacks decay every 2 seconds (but marines still need to resist to put their final stack out). Finally, friendly xenoes do not take damage from your melting fire.

Pyrogen Abilities

Note : When an ability refers to being on fire, it's assumed that the marine has been inflicted with Melting Fire. Normal fire won't give any bonuses.

Health Plasma Slash Speed Melee Bullet Laser Energy Bomb Bio Fire Acid
Base 325 325 20 -0.8 40 40 40 40 0 30 200 30
Ability Description Plasma Cost Cooldown

Toggle Bump Attacks
Allows you to toggle bump attacks on and off. This allows you to slash any enemy creature by running into them. The red arrow means it's on, you attack when on HARM intent; the green arrow means it's off, you push when on HARM intent. N/A N/A

Rest
Used to rest and get up. You heal faster when resting on weeds. N/A 2 seconds

Psy Drain
This ability is used on dead Marines. For every Marine's psyche drained, the Hive will gain between 30 and 90 psychic points, depending on the number of Marines spawned; and 1/8 of a larva. 50 N/A

Fire Charge

Charge up to 5 tiles, attacking any organic you come across. Extinguishes the target if they were set on fire, but deals 10 acid/burn damage, multiplied by the amount of fire stacks (on top of your standard melee damage) 30 4 seconds

Fire Storm

Target a tile and send 3 fire tornados after a 0.6 second channel, which leave a trail of melting fire in their wake. Tornados alternate between moving randomly in a cardinal direction or towards the targeted tile every move, and extinguish themselves after 2 seconds. Any objects that are hit are damaged, and any organics directly hit are set on fire. 50 14 seconds

Fire Ball

Target a tile and launch a fireball after a 0.6 second delay, which explodes in a 3x3 pool of melting flame when hitting or mob or reaching the targeted tile. Direct hits deal extra damage. Direct hits also deal damage to friendly xenoes. 50 15 seconds

Primordial Evolution

Once the hive has enough psychic points, your queen has the option to unlock powerful primordial evolutions for each strain. Primordial evolutions grant additional abilities for the relevant class.
For the Pyrogen, this primordial ability is Heatray.

Ability Description Plasma Cost Cooldown

Heat ray

Fire a ray that penetrates through walls and deals 50 damage after a 1 second channel. Travels 7 tiles, fires 3 times and lasts 3 seconds. Targets who are on fire take 10 extra damage for every fire stack they have 150 15 seconds

Pyrogen tips & tricks

  • Fire charge can also be used as an escape tool in a pinch.
  • You're immune to fire. You don't need to worry about flamers or blocking your advance or retreat.
