MEDICAL STAFF

Brig Doctor
Access: Medbay, Morgue, Surgery, Cloning Lab, Brig, Holding Cells, Courtroom
Additional Access: Genetics Lab, Chemistry Lab, Virology, Security Office
Difficulty: Hard
Supervisors: The Warden, and the Chief Medical Officer if needed.
Duties: Heal any Security Officers and prisoners inside the Brig. Don't get shot while healing out in the field.
Guides: Everything a Medical Doctor needs to know, the extents of Space Law and Standard Operating Procedure.
Quote: Wake the f**k up Officer, we've got a station to save.

You are the Brig Doctor, the last bastion of hope for Security when Medbay is inevitably bombed into oblivion. Trained in little more than a standard Medical Doctor you're given extra responsibilities for absolutely zero extra pay. You're doing the same work a traditional Medical Doctor would do without the luxuries of being in Medbay.

Bare minimum requirements: Heal Security Officers and keep any unfortunate prisoners alive.

Your Outfit

As the Brig Doctor you spawn with a plethora of "state-of-the-art" Medical equipment required to heal any unfortunate souls who find themselves inside the Brig, along with some personal armor: a slim Type-I armored vest. Your headset is tuned to both the Medical channel as well as the Security channel to allow you to communicate with Medbay. Of note is your personal Combat Medical Kit, the details of which can be found at the bottom of this article.

Should you be required to do any surgery on-spot inside the Brig there is a bag containing everything you need inside the Prisoner "Transfer" Center which is typically located near permabrig.

If you need additional Security equipment for beating prisoners into submission self-defense you can request some from your supervisor, the Warden. They're not obligated to give you any equipment however and shouldn't provide much more than the basic necessities. Tending to the wounded is your primary goal after all.

Your Standard Operating Procedure

As is with any good Medical job, there is a strict line of procedure to follow that is almost always ignored. Yours is as follows:

  • Ensure all Security Officers are in good health.
  • Ensure all prisoners are in passable health.
  • Complete any surgeries requested by Security personnel such as checking for implants.
  • Ask Genetics and various other departments for possible upgrades to Security.

Do note that you should always have someone watching your back while you tend to a prisoner in the unfortunate event that the ungrateful prick prisoner decides to fight you.

Healing Out in The Field

As the Brig Doctor leaving the Brig should be done only on occasion; like the Warden most of your work will be done in the Brig. You should only leave the Brig when assigned to a group of Officers on a manhunt or when visiting other departments for upgrades.

While out in the field prioritize healing over fighting. You are not a trained Security Officer and shouldn't be expected to fight unless the situation is dire. Using your medical supplies to get people back up in the fight is more important than robusting an antag. And remember to stay with your team, if you're alone it makes you easy to pick off and your medical supplies are useless.
