General Timeline:
Earth develops throughout the 21st century. Early 21st – post cold war tumultuous era.  Mankind stalls in space. Developing world continues to develop. Climate continues to change, more and more rapidly as the century goes on.
Mid 21st – the first ‘space gold age’ as maturation of interplanetary tech such as nuclear thrusters, fusion technology and the like brings humanity to the cusp of interstellar space. Climate woos begin to affect large areas of the globe, such as the desertification of West Africa, Western Australia, the Southwest Great Plains.
Late 21st – Climate change pushes hundreds of millions out of North Africa, Mesopotamia, India, and Brazil. Political crisis and civil wars erupt. Nuclear war decimates Earth. Colonies of mankind go their own way – Mars, Luna, the Socialist Union, Elysium.
The 22nd century is a century of rebuilding on Earth, with the mid 22nd being the reunification of solsys under Solgov and the permanent establishment of Cyngi and Lycrea colonies. Late 22nd century is host to the first Human-Kidan wars between human outposts at Centauri and Lycrea and a few select hives. FTL begins in a slow way via manufactured wormholes connecting stars, dragged to their location via sublight ships at high fractions of c, which connect most worlds in a 20-25ly range of Sol within three centuries. The Socialist Union of Cygni joins the TSF and forms the powerbase for the Socialist Party. The Skrell meet the Diona.
23rd century – The Skrell and Diona are contacted by humanity in the latter years of the 23rd century, quickly leading to the formation of a defensive alliance. Vox-Unathi war. Mankind and the Skrell advance against the local, decentralized but massive Kidan colonies, fighting many, destroying some, allying with others.
24th century – The Tajaran are contacted and fall into civil war. The Vox and Unathi are contacted by Humanity. Kidan-Human war climaxes with the Battle of Argos, 2311; and the Skrell-Human alliance begins to rebuild Kidan in a centralized, interstellar form. Vox raiders attack Human settlements, and the Unathi, having become disorganized after their stalemate against the Vox, are united once more in a fight against Humanity, which also ends in stalemate.
25th century – The early 25th century has the introduction of IPCs and their plight. The TSF cracks down on the Socialist Party and Cygni, leading to sidelining and isolation which boils over to the Cyngi revolt, leading to the destruction of Cygni when their wormhole connection is destroyed; and the survivors flee to the edge of known space in their ‘long trek’ to reestablish the Socialist Union. The Greys are discovered officially, though many surmises earlier, unannounced contact. The Slimes are contacted by NT and put under a protectorate. The field of FTL is broken in the late 25th century with the proliferation of Metastable Crystalline Plasma by Nanotrasen – the remnants of stellar matter that was deposited throughout space by the death of stars - that allows enough energy to be controlled and released for the warping of space-time, along with numerous other applications such as the opening of dimensional rifts, extremely fast and safe STL travel, research, artificial gravity, and fuel applications. Warp-ring ships become a common sight in the hands of NT, SC, and the TSF, with the energy source being kept top secret. NT begins exploring further and further out into the void, coming across the Xenomorphs, the Changelings, the Drask, the Abductors, the Vulpakin.
26th century – in the leak of the millennium, the secret of Metastable Crystalline Plasma is released to the public on Jan 1st, 2501. NT suspects either an internal or associated leak from either the TSF or SC governments, and rushes to formally claim and stake the nearest white dwarfs, dragging stations or buying out hulks to refit them for extraction, storage, and research of plasma. Competing corporations jump at the chance to break the FTL monopoly, fighting NT in court, wooing governments, or attacking NT outright. The Plasmamen are officially discovered in an outer white-dwarf system and put under NT protection.
2518 – current day.
