The Ash Walkers
In a time long forgotten the planet Laxis Adrax now known by most as Lavaland was not always such, long ago it was a verdant planet with lush jungles and diverse wild life, for a time not much happened as any sentient life had yet to emerge, this would not last long however. On the Unathi home-world of Moghes an asteroid comprised primarily of bluespace crystals impacted a village, however instead of destroying the village and all its inhabitants it resulted in a large bluespace anomaly, one powerful enough to transport the majority of the village to Laxis, the Unathi found themselves in a completely different climate, but one that seemed to almost suit them better than Moghes itself, for a time they prospered, none of the life on the planet was even remotely close to being able to stand against the hunters of the village. The ruling elite and the church were one in the same only they were granted access to the innermost sanctum where they communed with The Necropolis itself
Hence the name of the necropolis

However, their god is actually a redspace/bluespace (depending on if we want redspace to be canon) entity

It communes with their high priests and convinces them to attempt to bring it forth into normal space

This is when a schism happens, some of them go through with it

While a few others go against it

The devout priests sucessfully bring forth The Entity.

But
=The Third Era=
The rebels did something to the necropolis, making it into a sort of prison for the entity.
The imprisonment of The Entity utterly enraged it and it lashed out basically entirely destroying their society
A devout few were spared its wrath.
The Entity now imprisoned within begins to unleash its eldritch powers on it's new home,
corrupting any and all within its reach.
The Entity is immensely powerful and its eldritch grasp takes hold of the entire planet.
Using the dense deposits of bluespace it begins manipulating reality itself in certain regions.
Resulting in the anomalies we see on the station as well as later bringing several ruins (The Vet, Biodomes, Ruined Party).
It manages to bring forth its subjects the demons (slaughters and Bubblegum).
And it also begins to influence the fauna of the planet (drakes, goliaths, and watchers) using them for it's own will.
Colossi are not a natural occurrence, they were created from the priests who performed the ritual to bring this entity forth,
given immense power as reward for their service.
Using the corrupted bodies inside the necropolis, legions are formed
After immeasurably long times the big legions are formed from a collection of numerous smaller ones.
The remnants of the ash walkers continue on and their culture is reduced to a state we see as it is now.
Events on the planet begin to stagnate,
The Entity sealed within the nigh indestructible necropolis waiting for an opportunity.
When Rat'Var manifests upon the planet, having fled from a losing battle with Nar'Sie
The Entity sensing an opportunity attacks Rat'Var, perhaps attempting to assimilate it into its being
However Rat'Var's mechanical nature and weakened state results in his utter destruction by The Necropolis.
Nar'Sie senses this disturbance and sends a small sect of her cult to investigate,
after discovering the presence of The Entity she demands she is brought forth to destroy it.
However
The planet is utterly and entirely controlled by The Entity, their attempts to bring Nar'Sie forth are disrupted and swiftly ended by a contingent of very angry Colossi,
leaving nothing but bones remaining where they attempted the ritual.
Time goes on for a little while.
When NT arrives, their scanners detecting the immense amounts of valuable ores and bluespace on the planet, and more specifically the anomalies mentioned earlier.
And then we have the events of game
The Entity tolerates NT's presence as it sees them as a possible opportunity,
to escape its prison and wreak havoc on the universe uncontested.

The First Era

Eventually though, the settlement suffered a great plague, one so potent it threatened their total annihilation. The village leader struggling to contain the pandemic heard a voice in their dreams, it promised salvation and prosperity at the mere cost of being worshiped, the leader having no other hope for saving the settlement agreed to the pact with the voice. When he next woke the entire settlement had been cured seemingly by magic, their leader following the pact declared it an act of divine intervention, there were skeptics at first but none could deny the evidence, the total eradication the plague and curing of those afflicted over night followed by a proclamation of divine intervention from their leader was no coincidence. Eventually the entire village fell into line and began to worship the being behind the voice, its name lost to time.

The Second Era

Following the adoption of a religion worshiping the entity now only known as The Necropolis the village prospered, under its guidance they had made rapid developments and had rediscovered metal working and various other technologies they once had on Moghes, in a brief decade the village population had roughly doubled and new settlements were already developing, several monuments to The Necropolis had already been constructed, however it demanded more a monument to stand the test of time, and so it was done the first village, now a city had begun construction of the actual Necropolis building it had become a holy site and a place to intern their dead sent unto their god.
