Karma is a points system used by the Paradise Station SS13 server to reward players for good behaviour, roleplay and creative play as well as to restrict races and jobs that are either powerful (e.g Vox and Sec Pod Pilot) or require an experienced player in its position (NT Rep, Magistrate).

Rules regarding Karma

Rules regarding Karma are covered under Rule 11 on the Rules Page and on the Rules tab on the SS13 Game client. The rule reads as follows:

"11. Karma:
Swapping Karma between friends repeatedly or other methods of 'Farming' is an offense that may result in being banned from the Karma system and all of its unlocks. Our Karma system is in place to reward good players, not those who have a friend to swap with every round. You are also forbidden to attempt reverse-engineer the code from the game to attempt at cheating the karma system's functionality."

You are also forbidden from begging for or asking for karma. Saying "I am not begging, but..." doesn't mean you are not begging. You still are. Stop it.

Giving/Receiving Karma

Every player has one karma point he can issue to any other player at any point during the round. Once they have given that karma point, the player cannot give another player karma until the round ends. However, a player can receive an unlimited (except by player count, for obvious reasons) number of karma points during any given round.

Karma can also be given out by admins for participating in events or bowing to their whims. Karma can also be given out for contributing to the community. For example, each sprite you create that is submitted to the game can gain you 10 karma points; Check the Graphics Section on the Paradise Station Forums [here] and see what contests are going on and make your own sprite dump thread. You don't have to be good, you just have to be good enough!

You can also gain karma by making significant contributions to this very wiki! (HINT. HINT.)
