| Vulpkanin history is largely unknown to outsiders as it is generally passed down generation to generation orally rather than in the form of recorded documents, recorded history did not become the gold standard until the formation of the central unifying body known as The Assembly.

| What is considered by many Vulpkanin scholars to be the beginning of the species' modern history is the creation of The Assembly, a political body designed to unify the entirety of Altam under one flag. Taking place in 2350, The Assembly was a direct result of the civilization’s heterarchical mentality and it's innate desire to strive for cooperation emboldened by recent discoveries in telecommunications. The formation of The Assembly resulted in quick technological advancement and heavy industrialization as many of the once disconnected groups of Vulpkanin pooled their resources and industry together, ultimately leading to the discovery of new propulsion systems that allowed for swift and cheap interplanetary travel - and subsequently colonization of other worlds at the dawn of the twenty fifth century.

| During the twenty fifth century the Vulpkanin greatly expanded their planetary boundaries by colonizing two other planets in their system – Kelune and Dalstadt. While the colonization efforts were heralded as a major success for Altam both colonies declared independence from The Assembly at the turn of the century, with a population totaling twenty million between the two worlds. Irrespective of the sudden independence of it's daughter colonies, Altam still enjoys strong trade and healthy relations with both Kelune and Dalstadt due to their reliance on Altam's heavy industry - the success of the initial colonial efforts has spurred on further colonization initiatives in Vazzend's rim worlds.

| First encounter was made in the year 2524 by a human exploration vessel called the TEV Calipso, which was sent to the Vazzend system to confirm reports of unusual broadband radio signals. At this point in history the Vulpkanin were still far behind in conventional FTL space-faring technology, and were subsequently unable to enter the political scene of the galaxy as a major actor. After a brief year of diplomatic talks resulting in the boundaries of the Vazzend system being redrawn and the recognizance of the Vulpkanin as a species and galactic actor, The Assembly entered trade talks with NanoTrasen with hopes of gaining further legitimacy in galactic affairs, as well potential access to it's lucrative market share of plasma. Whilst some aspects of the trade agreements are still being discussed to this day, Vulpkanin have enjoyed access to many new technologies as well as access to the galactic labour market.

| Many Vulpkanin chose to leave their homeworld in the ensuing years to widen their skill sets with the hopes of bringing new information and technology back to their home worlds, while others chose to leave out of simple wanderlust despite pressures on cultural unity. Whilst the vast majority of Vulpkanin live a rather comfortable lifestyle the civilization as a whole has yet to fully embrace the technological advancements brought to them by their exposure to the rest of the galaxy, leaving large swathes of their core worlds unable to provide some of the more advanced amenities commonly appreciated by other species.

| Their native language is Canilunzt. The language mostly consists of a series of barking, yips and guttural growling noises. It has often been likened to Old Earth German due to it's guttural enunciation.

| Vulpkanin culture places a strong emphasis on loyalty and unity, and typically does not condone violence of any kind. This in turn lead to the relatively quick formation of a strong planetary government further solidifying a more homogeneous and unified culture. Due to the strong cultural emphasis on unity many homeworld Vulpkanin may be regarded as isolationist, often preferring the company of their own kind to other species, however as with most races Vulpkanin raised outside of their core worlds generally don't exhibit these traits.

| The planet of Altam is largely devoid of any religious activity and features no central religious authority, most of it's citizens are typically atheist or deist. Religion doesn't play a large part in the lives of most Vulpkanin and has little impact on Vulpkanin culture and politics as a whole.

| Altam is a bustling, heavily industrialized planet with a massive economic output tailored towards it's colonial efforts. As most of the economy is directly controlled by the state quality of life is typically the same for the vast majority of Altam's citizenry. Due to it's highly unified nature and state-run economy there is a large amount of trepidation concerning the adoption of foreign technologies, beneficial implementations have occurred but the process is slow-going. The planet's population totals at around six billion and is slowly shrinking due to massive emigration and a lack of new births, due to both colonial efforts and heavy industrialization.

| Outside of their home worlds the Vulpkanin species enjoy relatively equal treatment to most other races in the galaxy. Whilst at times isolationist, they're often accepted into the social or corporate structures of other species due to their typically non-violent behaviour and loyalty. Whilst many employers bear some amount of mistrust due to Vulpkanin cultural unity, these barriers are slowly eroding with time.
